Fugro awarded multiyear offshore wind contract in Germany

4 november 2026

Fugro has secured a multiyear framework agreement with the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) to undertake geotechnical site investigations in the German North Sea. The acquired data, complemented by detailed laboratory testing, will provide critical input for future wind farm developers during the tendering and development phases.

Through the framework agreement, Fugro will help derisk and accelerate development timelines, supporting the continued expansion of clean energy infrastructure in the German North Sea. The workscope comprises data acquisition using a range of geotechnical drilling vessels and seabed Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) vessels, together with geotechnical laboratory testing services performed in Fugro’s facilities in Germany, Belgium and the UK. The programme will be delivered through Fugro’s combined Marine operations in the Netherlands and Germany.

With preparations already in progress, the programme is scheduled to commence in mid-March 2027. The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), as the Contracting Authority, shall be entitled to call off services under this multiyear Framework Agreement from the date of its award.

Fugro highly values its partnership with BSH and is honoured to support the agency in implementing its vision for the future development of offshore renewable energy in Germany. As Germany progresses towards its long-term offshore wind ambitions, Fugro is proud to play a role in helping deliver the data and insights that underpin a successful and sustainable energy transition.

“Fugro’s strong track record of providing reliable geotechnical data and expert advice in support of offshore development and bidding programmes has undoubtedly contributed to the award of this project. Our ability to mobilise dedicated geotechnical drilling vessels and specialised seabed Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) assets was also a key factor in the success of our tender,” said Erik Vogt, Project Director at Fugro Germany. “The strength of Fugro’s integrated international network. The close and long-standing cooperation between our teams in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany has been instrumental in developing a highly competitive solution for BSH,” added Sven Plasman, Principal Commercial Manager, Fugro Netherlands Marine.
